Matthew Torrington, MD
Medical Director, The Prometa Center, Inc. - Santa Monica

Dr. Torrington is a family medicine doctor with a specialty in Addiction medicine. He is also a clinical research physician with the UCLA integrated substance abuse programs and is the medical director for outpatient drug treatment programs. Dr. Torrington has been involved clinical research surrounding medication development for the treatment of methamphetamine dependence.

Charles J. Burstin, MD

Dr. Burstin had practiced Addictionology for over 25 years.  He is also a practicing Nephrologist for over 35 years and Board Certified in Internal Medicine.  He is also certified to treat Opioid dependent patients with Buprenorphine (Subutex & Suboxone) and has treated over 800 patients both in hospital and out patient since Buprenorphine has become available in this country.

He is on staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Brotman Medical Center and treats Chemical Dependent patients at Cri Help and Mission Community Hospital in the San Fernando Valley.

His overall experience in the field of Internal Medicine and Nephrology has enabled him to treat the most difficult and complicated chemical dependency patients.  He was Chief Resident at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and received the Arthur Lerner Award for Excellence in Behavioral Health from Daniel Freeman Medical Center.


Lawrence M. Weinstein, MD
Executive Medical Director, The PROMETA Centers, Inc.

Dr. Weinstein is a psychiatrist with over twenty-five years of experience in behavioral health medicine. Prior to joining the PROMETA Centers in June 2006, Dr. Weinstein served as West Region Medical Director of PacifiCare Behavioral Health/United Behavioral Health. Prior to joining PacifiCare in February 2003, he was Regional Medical Director for Magellan Behavioral Health, where he also served as Medical Director and Vice President of Medical Services. Dr. Weinstein was also past Medical Director of the Chemical Dependence Unit at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Chicago. He has also worked in private practice, providing individual and group diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services as well as family therapy. Dr. Weinstein received his M.D. from the Ross University School of Medicine, and began his medical education at the Kiev Medical Institute. He completed his internship and residency in psychiatry at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.
